Losing Sight is my blog to voice what I feel is wrong with the World. If the World was a perfect place I would not be writing this blog and I would have to find something else to complain about… probably video games.
Why Losing Sight? Losing Sight is inspired by the song title of the same name. It questions our obsession with materialistic possessions and our desire to need more while we turn our backs on what matters most. Why the need for hundreds of dollars on Gucci, Prada, Porsche, CK, DKNY, Movado and iPhone when we can walk by a homeless woman without so much as a second look. We spend our lives building possessions the scream “look at how successful I must be.” Yet we have not learned enough to help our own.
Everyone has a right to own trendy products and luxuries, this is America, this is what we are built on damn it. But our society makes it easy to look down upon the person that does not own an iPod, but fights over who pays the medical bills of a 32-year old mother with brain tumors and if it is worth the funding to keep her alive 3 months longer with more expensive treatment. I tell you what, it is worth a lifetime to the 9-year old daughter.
Why is it so easy to drop $200 on a phone, but so difficult to drop $2 dollars in a cup of the starving.
